In 2022 the European Commission proposed regulation to repeal the previous EU Construction Products Regulation (EU-CPR 2011) as part of a package of proposals aimed at making sustainable construction products the norm in the EU, empowering the green and digital transitions, and improving product safety. The newly revised EU-CPR was agreed by the European Parliament in April 2024.
The revised regulations for the EU’s construction products aim to bring all information on environmentally relevant properties in one place, improving clarity. With clearer deadlines and rules, the revisions are designed to accelerate the process of standardising construction products.
The CPA have released a briefing paper, ‘Areas of Difference Between the EU-CPR 2011 and the Newly Revised EU-CPR’, examining the differences between the old and new EU-CPR, particularly with the impact on manufacturers in mind.
